The Romanian Supreme Court’s decision to pave the way for the closure of Ferenzlakoch II Catholic Secondary School in Turgumuresh (Maros Vassarelli) is horrifying, the Foreign Ministry’s Under Secretary of Communications said Wednesday.
“Schools should be open, not closed, in the 21st century,” Tamash Menzel said on Facebook.
Hungary expected the Romanian authorities to make an urgent arrangement to secure the future operation of the school.
To facilitate the resolution, he added, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintains ongoing contact with the Romanian Democratic Alliance of Hungarians, a member of the ruling coalition.
He expressed hope
This issue will be resolved soon and will not burden the long-term relationship between Hungary and Romania.
