Hungary-Slovenia transmission line in operation

A cross-border transmission line connecting the power grids of both countries between Hungary and Slovenia went online on Thursday.

Transmission operator Mabil said Slovenia was the last of Hungary’s neighbors to work with the grid. It will be included in the capacity calculation from July 6th.

From August 2020 to June 2022, Slovenia undertook the construction of the last section of the 400 kV line between Sirkovche and Hebiz on the border side. The Hungarian-Slovenian border can be part of a European coupling project in the next day (SDAC) and the Japan-China (SIDC) time frame, Mavir said.

The European Union has contributed to the financing of the project.
