Hungary supports Ukraine’s EU aspirations

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Tuesday. The discussions between the two leaders focused on bidding for Ukraine’s participation in the European Union, welcoming Hungarian war refugees, and other areas of Hungarian-Ukraine cooperation, Victor Orban’s press. During the meeting, the Prime Minister of Hungary emphasized Hungary’s support for Ukraine’s status as an EU candidate and the removal of bureaucratic obstacles to Ukraine’s accession to the EU. Orban has promised to represent Hungary’s position at the EU Summit in Brussels this week.

The Prime Minister of Hungary said the country is currently accepting about 800,000 Ukrainian refugees and is ready to cooperate with further energy projects and rail transport of Ukrainian grain. Hungary will also accept more Ukrainian students, he told his counterpart.

On behalf of the Ukrainian people, Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Hungary for his support.
