Iconic Cabazon Dinosaurs salute Pee-wee Herman actor Paul Reubens

Situated in Cabazon, an unincorporated neighborhood in Riverside County off the ten Freeway, the 65-foot-tall Tyrannosaurus rex has been repainted to “put on” Pee-wee Herman’s iconic wardrobe. The dinosaur often called Mr. Rex stands alongside a 150-foot-long brontosaurus statue and collectively they’re a well-known roadside attraction.

The tribute to Reubens — who died Sunday, July 30, — took place due to the dinosaurs’ cameo within the 1985 movie, “Pee-wee’s Large Journey.” Within the film, Herman is chased between the 2 dinosaurs earlier than he jumps onto a working prepare.
