If Russia cuts gas, rationing from January says think tank – English

(ANSA) – ROME, Sept. 2 – If Russia cuts gas supplies to Italy, rationing will take place from January, Italy’s top think tank said on Friday.

Davide Tavarelli, president of Nomisma Energia, told ANSA, “If Russia turns off the gas today with 83% stocks, it will be forced to ration consumption at the beginning of January.” Told.

“But it would be nice to start earlier so that we don’t have to cut gas drastically in the coldest months,” he said.

“We do not have two new regasification terminals in Piombino and Ravenna this winter yet, but hopefully they will arrive in May.

“We have added about 17 billion cubic meters of non-Russian imports, but not enough to replace the 29 billion cubic meters we were buying from Moscow,” (ANSA).
