'I'll be back': Paula Abdul cancels tour due to injury

Paula Abdul is getting ready for surgery.

The singer, dancer and choreographer shared the news on her social media accounts, saying it was with an “incredibly heavy heart” that she announced the cancellation of her Canadian tour, as well as dates in Alaska and North Dakota.

Abdul, 62, said he was recovering from a recent injury.

“I received temporary pain-relieving injections so I could continue on tour, but the strain of an entire tour is another story,” she wrote.

Abdul said one of the injuries required “minor surgery” but did not elaborate on what the injury was or what caused it. She said the decision to have the surgery came “after multiple discussions with doctors and exploring all options.”

She said her recovery will take six to eight weeks.

“I sincerely apologize to my amazing fans in Canada and the US. You all mean the world to me and I am truly heartbroken,” she wrote. “I have always looked forward to the energy, love and connection we share when we are together. I promise to come back stronger, better, dance with my heart and perform for you all and give you the show you deserve.”

Abdul said concertgoers can get refunds at the point of purchase.

According to Deadline, the 21-city tour was scheduled to kick off in Victoria, British Columbia on September 25 and run through October, with Taylor Dayne and Tiffany serving as opening acts.

Abdul recently finished a summer tour with New Kids on the Block.
