The incidence of coronavirus in Berlin has risen slightly again.
According to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 350 new infections were detected per 100,000 people in the seven days of Tuesday (May 10, 2022). The day before, this number was 337.9. RKI reported a national incidence on Tuesday, just below 523.
2797 new infections in one day
According to a Tuesday status report from the Berlin Senate on Tuesday, 2797 new coronavirus infections were last recorded within a day. This brings the total number of infections registered since the start of the spring 2020 pandemic to 1,016,756.
PCR tests often do not follow rapid tests
However, experts assume that not all rapid tests are reliable and that many cases are not recorded because the positive rapid test is not always followed by the PCR test. In addition, not all health authorities report data daily, which can delay reporting, especially on weekends and at the beginning of the week.
13 new deaths
According to statistics, 13 new deaths related to Covid-19 have been added. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 4525 deaths from corona infections have been counted in Berlin.
