Expenses are breaking new records. Inflation reached 14.5% in May. The increase was 0.7 percentage points. Non-food products increased by more than 17% last year.

Inflation reached 14.5% in May after rising 0.7 percentage points. Inflation has risen from 13.8% in April.

In May, non-food increased by 17.8%, food increased by 14.25% and services increased by 7.47%. Potatoes recorded the highest food price increases at 50.93%, followed by oil at 44.14%, corn at 31.55%, flour at 30.13% and bread at 22.51%.

Spending on non-food includes spending on utility bills. Gas prices rose 86.71%, thermal energy rose 22.98%, electricity rose 18.46% and fuel rose 38.48%.

Inflation will peak again next year, according to Digi 24, Christian Popa, a member of the NBR Board of Directors. This is because measures to limit gas and energy prices have expired.
