The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes related to the alleged kidnapping of children from Ukraine after last year’s invasion of neighboring countries.
According to a statement on its website, the Hague-based court said one of the pre-trial courts had filed a warrant against President Putin on February 22 and his children’s rights commissioner Maria Libova. He said he had granted the prosecutor’s request against Verova.
“There is a reasonable belief that each suspect is responsible for the war crime of illegal deportation of the population from the occupied territories of Ukraine to the Russian Federation and illegal deportation of the population from the occupied territories of Ukraine to the Russian Federation at the expense of Ukrainian children,” the statement said. There are grounds.”
Russia does not recognize court jurisdiction, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier this week.
Putin is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping next week. President Xi Jinping is the most important foreign visitor since the start of the war.
