Iran Vows to Protect Its Territorial Integrity and National Dignity

On Wednesday morning, Iran expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, a prominent leader of the Palestinian Resistance, through a message posted on X, the social media platform. The message poignantly reflected the gravity of the loss, stating that just a day prior, Haniyeh’s “victorious hand” was celebrated, and now, the speaker is left to “carry his coffin” in grief.

The statement highlighted the enduring bond between Iran and Palestine, asserting that this connection would only strengthen in the wake of Haniyeh’s death. It emphasized Iran’s commitment to upholding its territorial integrity and honor, vowing to make those responsible for the attack “regret their cowardly action.”

According to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed when their residence in Tehran was struck. The IRGC’s statement conveyed condolences to the Palestinian people, the broader Islamic community, and the Resistance Front. It noted that the attack on Haniyeh’s residence resulted in his death and that of his bodyguard, and affirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Mousa Abu Marzook, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau, has pledged to seek retribution for Haniyeh’s assassination. Marzook emphasized that the killing will not go unanswered, describing it as a cowardly act.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan’ani confirmed that the relevant institutions of the Islamic Republic are actively investigating the details of the attack. The investigation aims to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to determine the appropriate response.
