Iran’s Amnesty, Commuting of Over 2,200 Prisoners – Middle East Monitor

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hamenei has forgiven and commuted more than 2,200 prisoners to commemorate the religious holidays of Eid al-Adha and Al-Adha.

Khamenei approved amnesty and commutation of 2,272 prisoners, including 43 sentenced to death. As a result, 811 detainees will be released.

The Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic repatriates and commute prisoners at least once a year on religious and national holidays, or at the request of the head of the judiciary.

Eid al-Adha was marked in Iran on July 10th, celebrating the Shiite holidays of Alghadia today.
