Baghdad: Iraqi parliamentary speaker Mohammed al-Harboushi on Saturday decided to suspend the session of the Iraqi parliament until further notice due to attacks on the parliament by protesters affiliated with the Sadrist movement.
In a statement, he stated that, out of national and political responsibility, and in accordance with Article 50 of the Constitutional Oath which mandates to preserve the interests of the people, under Articles 62 and 34, further notice Until there is a House session.
Al-Kharboushi urged the army commander-in-chief to take necessary measures to protect institutions as well as to protect demonstrators who called for peace and protection of state property. .
