The deceased Muslim youth was identified as Mohammed Fazil, a resident of Mangalpet near Surathkal on the outskirts of Mangaluru.

Police Secretary N. Shashikumar of Mangaluru said Thursday that the ban was within the range of four police stations in the area surrounding Surathkal.

He was taken to the hospital but collapsed due to an injury.
