Jerusalem: Israel has reported 591 new cases of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, according to the State Ministry of Health.
Xinhua News Agency said it has increased the total number of Israeli Omicron cases from 527 to 1,118.
He added that 723 of the infected were returnees from abroad.
The ministry also reported another 861 cases with high suspicion of mutant infection, but the results of their genomic sequencing tests have not yet been received.
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 in Israel increased to 1,363,577 after the addition of 1,775 new cases.
The number of deaths from the virus in Israel remained unchanged at 8,241, and the number of critically ill patients increased from 88 to 90.
