Jamaat-e-Islami Hind calls fetal abortion a ‘moral crime’

New Delhi: Jamaate-e-Islami Hind (JIH) called fetal abortion a moral crime and urged the Supreme Court to reconsider the ruling that gave all married and unmarried women up to 24 weeks of gestation legal abortion rights. appealed to the court.

The Supreme Court recently ruled that as far as abortion rights are concerned, there should be no distinction between married and unmarried women, and unmarried women must also be in a consensual relationship.

In the same verdict, the court also ruled that women should have reproductive autonomy and do not need the consent of their husbands or other family members.

In a media briefing, JIH vice president Mohamed Salim Enjin said the court ruling would increase the exploitation of women because men would be less afraid of the consequences of their actions.

He further stated that it was a question of life at the fetal stage where he/she was not in a position to defend his/her rights and removal of the fetus amounted to murder.

He said the rights of the fetus should have been considered by the court before deciding on such a sensitive case.

In response to questions, Rahmatunnisa, secretary of the women’s division of the JIH, said abortion rights cannot be combined with public demands.

Should people decide whether a fetus should be born or not, she asked.

She also demanded that governments and courts must protect all lives, including those of unborn children, and argued that abortion is unethical, immoral and illegal.

In response to a question about PFI bans, the engineer said: If someone breaks the law or commits a crime, the court is there to decide on the allegations. “
