Wick Adisasmit, coordinator of the FMD Task Force’s team of experts, shared information at an online press conference that followed on Tuesday.

He said 263 districts and cities in 22 Indonesian states were affected by foot-and-mouth disease.

“All Java states and some Sumatra states are classified as red zones, along with findings of foot-and-mouth disease (cases) in districts or cities,” he added.

According to Adisasmit, less than 50% of the FMD-affected districts and cities, such as Lampung, West Kalimantan and South Sulawesi, are classified in the Yellow Zone.

“Then there is a green zone, which means there are no reports of FMD in these states, such as Papua, East Nusa Tenggara, and Marc,” he added.

He explained that the zoning decision was based on the results of centralized processing of data on cases reported by local governments, obtained from a combination of laboratory test results and physical examination of clinical symptoms of FMD in livestock. did.

The government continues to strive to curb the spread of FMD through biosecurity, testing, vaccination, treatment and conditional slaughter, and the general public remains vigilant and concerned about the outbreak of FMD and implements biosecurity. We hope to jointly prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease.

To confirm the spread of FMD, the Ministry of Agriculture launched a livestock vaccination program in the Sid Arjo district of East Java on June 14, 2022.

Vaccine doses are prioritized for healthy animals at high risk of infection, such as livestock farms, community-owned dairy farms, dairy cooperatives, and beef cattle farms.
