Jokowi calls to ensure continuity of IKN building

JAKARTA (Antara) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) called for ensuring continuity in the construction of Nusantara Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan in his speech at the annual meeting of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR).

“Continuity of development in Nusantara (capital) must be maintained. IKN is not only for State Civil Organizations (ASN) but also for innovators and entrepreneurs,” said President Jokowi. Said here at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Building on Tuesday.

According to the head of state, the IKN includes not only government agencies, but also public facilities and infrastructure as the engine of the new economy.

Mr Jokowi said the new capital would be not just an ordinary city, but a jungle city with world-class education and medical services.

“The central government core area will certainly be built using state budget funds, but the remaining 80% will come from private investors invited to participate (in IKN construction),” he said. said.

According to Jokowi, IKN’s development agenda should be supported by good quality Indonesian manpower. Therefore, there is an urgent need in the health sector to reduce the stunting rate among children in Indonesia.

“Promotional and preventive services, as well as medical services, must be stronger and more evenly distributed,” he said.

The head of state also noted that the government continues to prioritize student access to quality educational services.

College students must be introduced to work from an early age.

“Children’s interest in science, technology, arts and sports must be supported and valued,” Jokowi said.
