Ljubljana – Prime Minister Robert Golov has proposed to appoint Television Slovenian journalist Petra Bejak Tirman as the new head of the Government Communications Office (UKOM). Earlier Wednesday, the Chancellor’s office confirmed to his STA that Dragan Barbutovsky would be leaving the post after his just over two months of service.
Bezjak Cirman will take over as Acting Director of UKOM. She will be appointed in the near future.
After working for many years as a journalist at public broadcaster RTV Slovenija, she was chairman of the station’s works council and worker representative on RTV Slovenija’s supervisory board.
Bartowski plans to work as a diplomat at the prime minister’s office in the future.
Bartowski’s departure from UKOM was first reported by the newspaper Donevnik, citing differences within the ruling liberal movement regarding office expectations and ways of working.
The prime minister’s office said coalition parties had warned against hate speech in politics even before the April elections, and UKOM was one of the bodies that should pay particular attention to this.
