Justice Minister Helen McEntee expects a second child

Justice Minister Helen McEntee has confirmed that he is pregnant with his second child, scheduled for December.

Last April, Ms. McKenty became the first Cabinet Minister to give birth in the history of Ireland during her tenure.

A spokesman told PA News Agency:

“Minister McKenty intends to take maternity leave to take care of his baby.”

McKenty also confirmed the news on an Instagram post, posting a photo of his first child, Michael, in a shirt with the words “I will be my brother.”

McKenty’s first baby, Michael, arrived just one day after the minister began his six-month maternity leave last year.

Meanwhile, she remained a member of the government and served as Cabinet Minister without a portfolio until returning in November.

Minister of Social Protection Heather Humphreys oversaw the judicial portfolio during Ms. McEntee’s maternity leave, and some of the duties of the Department of Justice were handed over to Minister of State Hildegard Norton.

Cabinet reshuffle is scheduled for mid-December, and Taoi Zack Mihol Martin and Tanai Stereo Barracker will exchange their positions as part of a coalition agreement.
