Kartarpur: Separated during the 1947 division, 75 years later a woman meets a Sikh brother

Kartarpur, May 18: A woman separated from her family during violence during the 1947 partition met her Sikh brother at Kartarpur.

At the time of the partition, Mumtaz Bibi was a toddler lying on the corpse of his mother, who was killed by a violent mob, Dawn’s news reported.

After the split, Ikubal settled in the village of Balicatian in Sheikhpra, Punjab.

Ikubal and his wife did not tell Mumuters that she was not their daughter.

Two years ago, Ikubal’s health suddenly deteriorated and he told Mumuters that she was not his true daughter and her true family was Sikhs, Dawn’s news reported.

After Ikubal’s death, Mumters and his son Shabaz began looking for a family through social media. They knew the name of Mumuters’ true father and the village of Patiala (Sidrana), who settled after being forced to leave his hometown.

Both families were connected through social media.

The Mumters brothers Sardar Grumite Singh, Sardar Narendra Singh, and Sardar Amlinder Singh arrived with their families in Gurdwara Durbar Sahib, Cartalpool.

According to the report, Mumters arrived there with other families and met his brothers who died 75 years later.
