Kuala Lumpur, July 1st — Jan di Perchuan Agon al Sultan Abdullah Riayatudin al Mustafa Villa Shah becomes Ferdinand Romuardes Marcos, the 17th President of the Philippines. Congratulations to the juniors.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Istananegara, His Majesty also expressed his hope that Malaysia and the Philippines would work closely together to bring about mutually beneficial development and prosperity for both countries and the people.

“Malaysia and the Philippines have built close relationships and brotherhood since 1959, and as inseparable neighbors, they share a similar history and culture,” he said.

Marcos Jr., 64, has sworn in as the 17th president at the National Museum in Manila after winning a landslide in the May 9 presidential election. The son of former President Ferdinand Marcos replaces Rodrigo Duterte.

The Philippines is Malaysia’s 15th largest trading partner, with a trade volume of 32.53 billion ringgit in 2021, which is 24.6 percent above the value recorded in 2020. — Bernama
