US President Joe Biden nominated Korean-American district attorney Cindy Chung on Tuesday as the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
In a press release, the White House called her “the first Asian-American judge to serve” in court, if confirmed.
The courts are of great importance to large corporations as they cover Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, many of which are incorporated into Delaware.
Chung must now be confirmed by the Senate.
A 47-year-old graduate of Yale University and Columbia Law School, Chung (47) has been working in the Western Pennsylvania district since 2014. She was Deputy Director of the Major Crimes Division of the US Department of Justice from 2018 to 2020.
