Kuwait Ministry of Health: Private Sector Partner in Health System Development

The private sector is an important partner in developing Kuwait’s health care system, Health Minister Dr Khaled Al-Saeed said Wednesday.

Speaking to the press after visiting the Kuwait National Bank Children’s Hospital, the minister praised the role of the private sector in providing healthcare and treatment.

Revealing that NBK and the ministry are working together to open new hospitals, Al-Said said such cooperation reflected strong ties between the private sector.

Meanwhile, Isam Jasem A. Al-Sager, deputy chairman and group chief executive of the National Bank of Kuwait, revealed that NBK is working with the ministry to open a third pediatric hospital, citing both sides. indicated that cooperation had begun. in the 1980s.

The new hospital will be built on an area of ​​8,000 square meters at a cost of $13 million (about US$42.9 million), Al-Saqer said, adding that construction would be completed in three years. The facility will be dedicated to treating children with intractable diseases.

Dr. Ali Mullah Ali, Director of Kuwait National Bank Hospital, Pediatric Hematology and Cancer Consultant, said that the hospital has been receiving patients for 20 years, but the number of cancer patients began to rise in building B of the hospital. Stated. Patient for 16 years.

NBK Hospital is the only facility of its kind in Kuwait to accept pediatric cancer patients and treat about 100 to 120 cases annually.
