Tunis: Kuwaiti female engineer Jenan Al-Shehab was awarded gold medals for invention and scientific research at the 2022 World Cup on Friday for her invention of an electromagnetic cell for wireless power transmission.
Shehab’s invention was patented by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). About 1,200 inventors gathered on Thursday for the competition, which coincided with the eighth summit of the Tokyo International Symposium on African Development (TICAD8).
In a statement to KUNA following the announcement of the winners, Shehab said he had been nominated for the award by the US NGO Global Universal Innovations INC (GOIDI). She added that she submitted a presentation on her invention to her six-member arbitration panel, and said the invention was the result of the Electrode Foundation she set up in Kuwait in 2016.
