LADO introduces Croatia’s intangible cultural heritage at a famous dance concert

LADO is synonymous with dance. In addition, today LADO presents the best dance experience with a unique traditional vocal instrumental expression.

LADO held its first dance concert of the year in Pécs, Hungary on May 26th at the packed Kodary Center Hall.

This concert is the national anniversary of the Republic of Croatia, celebrating its 30th anniversary of international recognition and establishing diplomatic relations between Croatia and Hungary.

The Croatian audience will premiere a dance concert in Lipik on June 3, 2022 in Lipikpur.

The dance concert will continue on June 5th in Ivanichigrad, June 25th in Trili, and on June 11th the ensemble will give an additional international presentation in Mainz.

The highlights of the LADO dance program will be with Tanek, Macedonia’s national ensemble. Tanek will be touring at Slavon Squibbrod on 14th July, Zagvozd on 16th July and Split on 17th July.

Following this, he questioned the contemporary role of traditional art, and the position of the 73rd year ensemble of its operation is very clear. This year’s dance concert is an accurate representation of the protected intangible cultural heritage and is directed by the program to different Croatian regions.

The program consists of 11 points, some of which are anthologies and are always welcome. At the concert, you can see “Ladarke”, which is a kind of ensemble and the trademark of the ensemble. “Valpovačkokolo” will take you to Eastern Slavonia. “Starovinskapivanja” will perform an old-fashioned solo song from Mljet. A single shepherd song from Gornje Poljice, whose name “ojkanje” has become commonplace in professional circles. Dubrovnik introduces “koloposkočica” Linđo, led by the mastermind, and dances to the accompaniment of the lyric poetry. Meanwhile, Baranja’s dance tradition is introduced in the choreography “Ejsviraj Pavo,” which is the origin of Baranja’s music. A dance tradition with bagpipes, unique folk costumes, poscotica and bećarac – an overture to the whimsical dance of “udvoje”.

On the other hand, the Prigolier dance takes you to the area around Zagreb. Polka and Dormesh, once danced on festive occasions, are still danced in Zagreb.

Energetic and inspiring professional performances are characteristic of LADO ensemble dance concerts. The results of these choreography and the interpretation of the stage are so close to the starting point that no one is indifferent to their artistic impressions.

These elements of LADO’s dance and song are important in how they represent a rich, beautiful, colorful tradition that lives on stage.
