Latvia continues to support Belarusian civil society / article

Edgars Linkevich appealed to Belarusian society and praised Chikanoskaya’s efforts to condemn Russia’s war against Ukraine, a war supported by the Lukaschenko administration. The minister emphasized that Latvia will face strong economic sanctions against the Lukaschenko administration. In the parley records, the Foreign Ministry said it agreed that the situation in which Russia used Belarus to circumvent economic sanctions was unacceptable.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia has confirmed that Latvia will further support Belarus’ civil society in its efforts to establish a free and democratic Belarus. Edgars Rinkēvičs has informed Belarus about the competition for grants for development cooperation projects announced by the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in March. One of its priorities is support for Belarusian civil society. The Minister has invited Sviatlana Tsukhanouskaya to prepare and submit a project application with a Latvian partner.
