Liz Truss replaces Boris Johnson as UK’s third female prime minister – Middle East Monitor

The Conservative Party’s 1922 Committee announced on Monday that British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss had won the Tory leadership election. Anadolu Agency report.

The 46-year-old Truss received votes from 81,326 party members, while her rival candidate Rishi Snack received 60,399 votes, said Commission Chairman Sir Graham Brady.

Truss will replace Boris Johnson as the UK’s new prime minister and will become Britain’s third female prime minister after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May.

Truss will be tasked with forming a new government by Queen Elizabeth on Tuesday.
