Lizzy Cundy narrowly avoids awkward reunion with former royal pal at glam event after kerfuffle

LIZZY CUNDI narrowly avoided a very awkward reunion with a former royal pal at her latest glam event.

The 56-year-old socialite is currently soaking up the sun in Los Angeles, expanding on her already extensive network and working on some secret projects.

Lizzie is meeting up with some old friends, but she didn't expect to run past Meghan Markle. Meghan Markle and I were friends before she was brutally 'ghosted'.

Lizzie previously told how the former actress brutally dumped her when she started dating Prince Harry and wasn't invited to his wedding.

So had the two met at the 2024 Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) Gala on Saturday, it would have been a frosty reunion.

Thankfully for Lizzie, Meghan headed home after the photocall and instead decided to chat with hosts Jamie Lee Curtis and Demi Lovato.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Lizzie was relieved that Meghan left the gala early, avoiding what could have been a very frosty reunion.”

“She has been very open about how Meghan ghosted her after she met Harry and how hurt she was by their sudden breakup.

“It would have been incredibly awkward considering Lizzie didn't even receive an invitation to the wedding.”

The TALK host once told how, three years before she met Prince Harry, Meghan begged him to find her as a “famous British man”.

The former model became close friends with Meghan after she was asked to accompany her to a charity dinner in 2013.

She said at the time: “We were having a girly chat and she said, 'Do you know anyone famous?'” I'm single, but I love British men. “So I said, “Let's go find someone.'' ”

Meghan had divorced her first husband Trevor Engelson, 45, three months before her trip to London.

And she told Lizzy, ex-wife of former Spurs and Chelsea defender Jason, 54, that she was in the mood to party and mingle with British celebrities.

The TV star, who revealed details of their friendship in her autobiography Tales from the Red Carpet, added:

“I showed her a picture of Ashley and she said, 'Oh, he's cute.' Does he have a reputation? 'Well, yeah, but you're just here to have some fun. I was like, “That's right.'' ”

Lizzie and Meghan reunited the following day at the Global Gift Gala in west London. She added: “Meghan was very relaxed, loved drinking and had a lot of fun.

“I remember she asked me about my sons. She was very interested and asked a lot of questions. Usually actresses just talk about themselves. She was really fun and She was really kind. I liked her.”

The pair kept in touch, but Lizzie was shocked to find out about Meg and Harry's relationship at the end of 2016.

Speaking at London's 100 Wardour Street restaurant, she added: “I texted him and said, 'Oh my god, I heard about Harry.'” And she was like, “Oh, I know.” I'll try connecting. ”

However, Meghan has since ended all relationships, as has Piers Morgan, 59.

Lizzie said: “I was probably told by the palace to cut off all contact with people I befriended in the media. I was literally haunted by her ghost.''
