Man who was taken to Swiss clinic by Kappat commits suicide

(ANSA) – ROME, November 25 – An 82-year-old chronic Parkinson’s patient is the latest person to die in a Swiss clinic by right-to-die campaigner Marco Kappert and is now undergoing assisted suicide, he said. His daughter said the video posted online on Friday.

Romano, 82, from Tuscany in Peschiera Borromeo, near Milan, “would have preferred to die at home surrounded by family,” said her daughter Francesca.

Capperto, the treasurer of the Luca Cocioni association with the right to die, turned himself in to Milan police on Saturday and was “again at risk of imprisonment of up to 12 years,” campaigners said.

He added: “It is not befitting a civilized country to continue to tolerate secret deaths in exile”. (ANSA).
