Lautaro Martinez’s prolific scoring form yielded two more goals as Inter Milan beat bottom-placed Cremonese 2-1 to move into second place in Serie A on Saturday.

Cremonese took a surprise lead with a spectacular strike from David Okereke, but Martinez scored every half-time.

He has six goals in his last six games for Inter, two points ahead of third-placed AC Milan, who face Sassuolo on Sunday. Inter and Milan will face each other in the Serie A derby next weekend.

Martínez has moved up to third in the Serie A scoring charts, two ahead of Napoli forward Victor Osimén and one behind Atalanta’s Ademar Rukman.

“I want to score as many goals as possible,” said Martinez. “If I can do my best, it means I give everything to the team and that calms me down.

“My goal is to take Inter to the top and reach out to my teammates, staff and fans.”

Cremona are nine points behind the leaders, with Sampdoria just one point behind.

Inter were looking to bounce back from a disheartening defeat at home to Empoli but surprisingly fell behind in the 11th minute when Okereke carved a space on the edge of the area and delivered a spectacular strike into the top right corner. rice field.

Inter equalized ten minutes later when home goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi dodged Edin Deeko’s volley from a corner kick.

The Nerazzurri almost scored at the end of the first half, but Carnesecchi was the first to fend off Federico Dimarco’s mighty shot and quickly rose to prevent Martinez from following up.

However, Martínez scored his second goal in the 65th minute when he was let off by Deeko’s through ball, and his effort deflected to loop Carnesecchi.

Eyes on Lookman

In his second game for Atalanta, Lookman has scored seven goals in his last four appearances.

The Nigeria national team collected the ball on the right flank and pushed the nutmegged Sampdoria defender Nicola Mulu into the area. He fired into the bottom corner after feinting to fire to confuse another defender.

Ruckmann also contributed to Atalanta’s opening goal three minutes before half-time. His header hit the right upright but went out to Hans Hateboer.

Come back

Torino scored twice in the final eight minutes to almost seal the winner and save a 2-2 draw with Empoli.

Sebastiano Ruperto scored his first goal in Serie A just before half-time and Razvan Marin’s sensational long shot in the 69th minute saw the home side seemingly coasting towards victory.

However, Samuel Ricci returned one against his former club in the 82nd minute and Antonio Sanabria curled with an equalizer three minutes later.

Incredibly, Turin came close to winning in the final minute, but Alexei Miranchuk’s shot hit the left post.
