MEA aims to open “Passport Seva Kendra” to all LS members

New Delhi: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the second phase of Tata Consultancy Services and Passport Seva Kendra (PSP-V2.0) will be Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).

Currently, 93 PSKs, 428 POPSKs and 36 passport offices are in operation. According to the ministry, the program has recently been connected to more than 176 Indian missions / posts through the Global Passport Seva Program (GPSP), providing “seamlessly” passport services to the Indian Diaspora.

The ministry added that PSP-V2.0 is a continuation and expansion of PSP-V1.0, an electronic governance tool that has introduced “unprecedented change” in the provision of passport-related services to citizens.

Key elements of PSP-V2.0 are setting up a state-of-the-art digital ecosystem, overhauling processes and integrating between various stakeholders and databases, improving the civil interface, technology upgrades, adopting best practices, and data. It is an enhancement of security.

Security aspects, including strategic assets such as data centers, databases, and application software, are owned by the government. There is strict system-wide access control that incorporates biometrics.

On the digital side, the program is a networked data center, disaster recovery center, and government secure repository for all PSK / POPSK, passport offices, and overseas Indian missions / posts, and the entire passport issuing ecosystem. Imagine an electronic file system for passport processing performed in. 24/7 monitoring and monitoring by state-of-the-art Network Operations Centers (NOCs) and Security Operations Centers (SOCs).

According to the ministry, the Passport Seva Program will embark on technology upgrades using biometrics, artificial intelligence, advanced data analysis, chatbots, auto attendants, natural language processing, and cloud support.

“The upgraded PSP-V 2.0 also announces the issuance of e-Passports for improved customer satisfaction, improved security, and the next level of civil experience.”
