Meet the faces behind APAA

APAA (Association for Protection of Animals Algarve) is first and foremost for the APAA’s motto, our four-legged friend. Make no mistake, the people behind the scenes are actually doing it.
President Jenny Clark has worked with APAA for many years. Her dedication is legendary. Rehoming and her SNiP are their most important projects. “Not necessarily in that order!” she confirms. “Sometimes the animals are brought back home and then spayed or neutered. Usually they’re clipped off fairly quickly.”
Many of the traumatized and abandoned wives and lost children are in urgent need of medical assistance. Their well-being and safety is our top priority. “Vaccinations are always necessary. You have to keep in mind that these dogs and cats are in the wilderness, so to speak, and can pick up anything.” Like the APAA, picking up other people’s mess mosquito? “Abandonment always amazes me. How can people do that? Throw it away!” We can pretend it doesn’t happen, but it happens too often.
“Come help me” is sometimes stretched. The APAA Vice President has a family and a full-time job. Always smiling and happy, Jane always donates a lot of her time and energy to backing up other people’s projects and running the Silves shop. Treasurer Jackie Billings adds: Not only does Jackie have the daunting task of managing her books, regulations, memberships and business closures, but “our website needs a lot of work,” she admits. increase. “We really need volunteers to help us. It’s really outdated.”

Jackie is also responsible for the delicious shortbread cookies sold through APAA’s “pop-ups.” APAA’s pop-up her queen, Anita, is scouting new sites for new season sales. “It has to be an open space that is accessible and friendly.” Anita has a crafty mind when it comes to business. Setting up a stall for just a few hours requires a lot more planning. “Timescales are getting tighter and more difficult. We have two great merch for sale.
The partnership between APAA and Caroline England in pet parks is without a doubt essential. Take some dogs and cats who need more than a roof over their heads. Rehoming is a top priority. Naturally, Caroline’s business must come first. She appreciates her continued support.
