Ministry and US hospitals consider cooperation in cardiovascular care

JAKARTA (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Health is seeking cooperation with a well-known US medical center, the Cleveland Clinic, to develop services for patients with cardiovascular or heart disease in Indonesia.

Cooperation for the development of cardiovascular care in Indonesia involves Harapan Kita Heart and Vascular Hospital and Cleveland Clinic.

Harbuwono and Iwan Dakota, director of Harapan Kita Heart and Vascular Hospital, visited Cleveland from September 11-15, 2022 to explore the collaboration.

According to the Deputy Minister, the cooperation will help to develop the second pillar of health transformation: transforming referral services to improve access and quality of secondary and tertiary care, especially heart disease treatment. considered as part of Cardiovascular Thoracic Institute (HVTI) at the Cleveland Clinic.

He noted that the number of hospitals offering integrated cardiovascular care is still small in Indonesia.

Some heart patients even choose to seek treatment abroad. The cooperation is therefore expected to support the provision of equitable cardiovascular care in Indonesia, he said.

As a follow-up to the meeting, cooperation proposals and work contracts will be developed, including partnerships between Harapan North Heart and Vascular Hospital and Cleveland Clinic.
