The South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) Summit in Thessaloniki on Friday shows that Greece “has a great deal of importance on the West Balkans and will resume efforts to establish them at a more focused pace. “It’s a safe port in Europe,” said Prime Minister Kiriacos Mitsutakis on Friday.

Talking to Thessaloniki FM100 Municipal Radio, he said the decision to hold a summit in Thessaloniki showed a dynamic return of Greece to Southeastern Europe.

He added that he was pleased and honored to be attended by President Charles Michel of the European Council and German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz.

“It will be an opportunity to fully discuss the challenges of our wider region to see the best way to deal with the economic consequences of the war in Ukraine,” he explained.

As he said, he has had the opportunity to inform his counterparts about Turkey’s provocation in the last few weeks, but said, “This summit will not focus on Turkey in any case.”

“Our interest is focused on Southeast Europe and the main role that Greece and northern Greece, especially Thessaloniki, can play as a gateway to products and energy. Greece dynamically in Southeast Europe, the Balkan Peninsula. It’s back, and of course, the protagonist of this great effort will be the companies in northern Greece. ” [AMNA]
