MOC says it will follow up on unjustified price increases

Saudi Gazette report

Riyadh — The Department of Commerce said it remains keen to follow up on any unjustified price increases.

Clarification of the MOC will occur at the start of the new academic year. We have confirmed that we will continue to monitor price increases for products and commodities across Saudi Arabia.

The ministry conducted about 3,084 visits to stationery stores, libraries and other school supplies stores to check their compliance with consumer protection laws and regulations.

The ministry also reiterated that it follows up on price stability across the Kingdom through inspection tours to ensure there are no unreasonable price increases.

The MOC oversight team also checked the availability of school supplies and made sure each product had a price tag.

In addition, the team confirmed that the prices of the products on the shelves did not differ from the prices recorded on the accounting machine, and also confirmed that there were no fraud or counterfeiting violations.

Through inspections, the ministry confirmed that it had issued 27 violations against violating facilities.

The MOC asked all consumers to report violations related to stationery and library violations via the (Balagh Tijary) app or contact the Unified Center on 1900.
