More than 2800 flights canceled on Thursday

Washington: As the tracking website FlightAware showed, an omicron variant of the coronavirus caused a shortage of airline staff, canceling more than 2,800 flights and delaying nearly 12,000 on Thursday worldwide.
In a statement, JetBlue Airlines said, “For leaflets of non-essential travel scheduled before January 2, 2022, consider using a flexible travel policy to change the trip at a later date. I highly recommend it. “
JetBlue said it expects a surge in case numbers in the northeastern United States, where most of its crew are based.
In addition to Omicron variants attacking the United States and sickening crew members, winter weather has caused many flight cancellations.
Health officials have confirmed that the Omicron variant is more susceptible to infection, but the cases are mild and no deaths have been reported so far.
