MOSCOW (Sputnik) – More than 60% of UK Conservatives vote for UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss to be Britain’s next Prime Minister and Tory leader, according to a new Opinium poll conducted for the Observer is the intention.
A survey of 570 Conservative MPs conducted between August 8 and 13 found only 39% of former UK Finance Minister Rishi Sunak supported Trump, with 61% saying they would vote for Truss.
Opinium polls show outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson remains strong among Tories.
Asked to choose between Mr Johnson remaining prime minister and Mr Truss becoming prime minister, 63% of Conservative MPs said they would support Mr Johnson. When asked to choose between Johnson and snacks, 68% said they preferred Johnson, while only 19% said they supported the former Treasury secretary.
British Foreign Ministers Liz Truss and Sunak are shortlisted for the prime ministerial election after Boris Johnson announced his resignation on July 7. Johnson’s successor will be announced on September 5.
