More than a dozen guns seized following arrest of Riverside County assault suspect

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, authorities seized more than a dozen guns from the man suspected of assaulting the victim.

The first incident occurred just before 1 p.m. Friday, when police were dispatched to the intersection of Pat's Ranch Road and Limonite Avenue in Jurupa Valley after a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. When police arrived on scene, the suspect had fled in a black SUV, but authorities say 31-year-old Jurupa Valley resident Yorgan Rios pointed a gun at the victim during an argument.

Officers later found Rios inside the vehicle and conducted what the sheriff's office called a “high-risk stop.” The suspect was taken into custody but no gun was found, only ammunition.

A search warrant was then obtained and executed at a residence in the 11000 block of Dane Drive, where officers seized a total of 17 firearms, along with ammunition and other evidence related to the alleged assault.

Rios was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into a local jail on $25,000 bail.
