National Association of Realtors members invade the lake and do not develop: Hyderabad activists

Hyderabad: After the state government has decided to require real estate developers and builders to protect, develop, rejuvenate and increase green space, activists representing the environment and civil society oppose that decision.

According to activists, the government has opened the door for developers to turn waters into private land and prevent people from coming to the lake.

“The decision is ominous. It’s all about legally passing the lake to developers to further erode the waters and develop more ventures,” activists said. New Indian Express..

The decision also goes against the basic structure of the Constitution. There are about 3,200 lakes in the metropolitan area, most of which have dramatically shrunk due to buffer zones and ventures and layouts along the FTL.

Environmental activist Professor K Pershotum Lady explained that the order was an ominous move by the government to hand over natural resources to businesses, which would undoubtedly be a big problem.

He added, “Make it an election issue. How can the government hand over water to businesses?”

Lubna Sarwath, social activist and co-convenor of the NGO-Save Our Urban Lakes (SOUL), said: As citizens, we do not allow this to happen. “
