Northern Cyprus News | Commission to Raise Minimum Wage

Sunday, June 19, 2022
According to Yeniduzen, the minimum wage should be raised to 8,000-8,500 TL, said Hasan Tachoi, Minister of Labor and Social Security.
Currently, the minimum wage is 7,000 TL, but due to the devaluation of the Turkish lira, it does not meet the basic living expenses. The committee to determine the minimum wage will meet shortly.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Commission’s small merchants, Hür-0054ş Federation Ahmet Serdaroğlu, argued that the numbers quoted by the Minister of Labor were below the breadline and they would not accept them.
