[PM Ünal Üstel inspects construction of Kyrenia-Alsancak dual carriageway]

Friday, October 21, 2022

Prime Minister Urnal Yuster on Thursday inspected the work being carried out to complete the latest section of the Kyrenia-Alsanjak dual highway, the BRT reported.

He was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Alkuri.

Work resumed on Thursday on the second phase of the double carriageway between Kyrenia and Alsancac, which was delayed last year.

The first 6.1 km section of the road was completed in 2021, but construction has since been suspended for financial and technical reasons.

In January 2023, the second section of 800m of road built at a cost of TRY 36.6 million will be completed.

The Prime Minister said the ultimate goal is to extend the dual carriageway to the Lapta Hotel Strip and, in the future, to Karsiyaka.

He also said there were plans to build a double-carriageway east of Kyrenia via Çatarköy.
