Northern Cyprus news | Workers face scorching temperatures

Sunday, July 31, 2022
Yeniduzen reports that in the absence of a ruling from the Ministry of Labor, workers are taking their own measures to weather the rising temperatures.
The previous government banned working during the hottest part of the day, but no new measures have yet been announced.
The Japan Meteorological Agency says temperatures are expected to soar to 41 degrees Celsius. This means that exercising outdoors between noon and 4pm poses health risks.
Workers interviewed by Yenidzen said they stayed in the shade during the hottest part of the day, and took frequent breaks and drank plenty of water during the rest of the day. However, those who did not take such precautions have fainted, suffered headaches, and were unable to return to work the next day.
Yeniduzen reached out to the Ministry of Labor for comment and was told:An action plan is being prepared and technical work is being done“.
