In particular, Thales, which manufactures Norwegian passports, has been sued for selling weapons used in the war in Yemen.

According to the United Nations, the war in Yemen has caused one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world in recent years. AP reports that a voluntary organization is suing Thales for the sale of weapons and military equipment to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The two countries led a Western support coalition that went into war with the Houthi rebels who seized power in Yemen’s capital, Sana, in March 2015.

“Thales strictly adheres to all applicable laws and regulations regarding export control. This policy is part of a comprehensive approach to ethical practices and corporate responsibility that meet the strictest industry standards.” Camille Heck, Communications Manager for the Defense Department of Thales Group, wrote in an email to the newspaper Vårt Land.
