How much does CNS refund you if I have an eye test in Luxembourg and buy eyeglasses or contact lenses?

How much does CNS refund you if I have an eye test in Luxembourg and buy eyeglasses or contact lenses?

A vision test may be required if you or your child is squinting, or if you need to move closer or further away from the screen, book, or board to read or see the pictures clearly. It may also be needed in combination with other medical conditions that directly or indirectly affect the eyes and eyesight. In the latter case, your doctor or specialist can advise you.

Luxembourg has ophthalmologists, optometrists, and opticians who can all perform vision tests (this is true for some opticians, but not all).

What’s the difference?

Ann Ophthalmologist A doctor or osteopathic doctor who specializes in eyes and eyesight. They usually complete several years of training and are licensed to practice advanced medical and surgical procedures. This means it can treat a wide range of conditions for optometrists and opticians.

This means that in addition to a vision test, you can diagnose health problems that are not directly related to the eye, such as diabetes, and refer them to the relevant specialist. They can also perform laser eye surgery. Some ophthalmologists specialize in areas such as glaucoma, retina, cornea, neurology, and ocular plastic surgery.

Many eyeglass stores in Luxembourg allow you to test your eyes and buy eyeglasses. However, the diagnosis is made by an in-house ophthalmologist or optometrist.

Most municipalities and commune have opticians. Find an optician near you about this list..

What does CNS cover?

What you need to submit

You have to pay for your vision test, and this will be refunded. When you receive your glasses, you will need to submit the original invoice, paid and received invoices. This invoice must include a 13-digit national identification number. You will also need to submit the original prescription for your vision test, especially if you need a refund for colored lenses or eyeglasses for children under the age of 14. No prescription is required to replace a damaged lens within the first 6 months of your first purchase.

For the first refund request, you must enclose a proof of bank details or associated identification (RIB)

What are your glasses covered with?

You are free to choose the frame of your choice (all opticians must provide at least 4 male and 4 female frames that are fully covered by your health insurance, That’s an amount of € 30, otherwise you’ll get the same amount back It could just be functional, not.

Glass lenses are refunded at a rate agreed between the CNS and the Association of Opticians Professionals and can be as standard as 30 euros per lens. Depending on your vision, you can get more qualifications for each lens.

Treatments such as anti-UV and screen-friendly shades are not covered. However, if you need colored eyeglasses for chronic conjunctivitis, keratitis, uveitis, certain cataracts, glaucoma, ciliary neuralgia, secondary photophobia, cataracts, or blindness, CNS will do this for you. Cover

If one or both eyes have a refractive error of 6,000 diopters or more, the CNS covers two glasses with a high index of refraction (thin and light).

If a person has a plus 2.50 diopter in at least one eye, the CNS covers two progressive glasses.

How often do you get new glasses?

CNS covers vision tests and new eyeglasses every 3 years unless there is a diopter change of plus / minus 0.50 or more (for this, one eye changes plus 0.25 and the other eye minus Includes changes to 0.25, but does not include changes to 0.25, in the same direction for both eyes).

For children under the age of 14, CNS covers eyeglasses without a renewal period. Following the child’s 14th birthday, the first pair of glasses (with or without a prescription) will be the starting point for the first three-year renewal period, just like adults. The renewal period begins with the last compensation date by CNS, not the date of purchase.

What do contact lenses cover?

Invoices must be submitted with the original prescription to receive contact lens refunds. You get the same fixed coverage as glasses. For example, 30 euros, as in the case of frames, the amount corresponding to the price of glass lenses (which should have been covered if you chose eyeglasses).

You can submit multiple invoices for continuous delivery of contact lenses, but you must submit them at once in order for the total fixed amount to be refunded. In other words, if your redemption is worth € 90, you can accumulate several invoices for your contact lenses to reach that amount, and submit them to the CNS at once.

Contact lenses will be fully refunded if you have the following medical conditions:

  • Refractive error of 6 diopters or more,

To receive a full refund, your contact lens invoice or invoice must be attached to the medical prescription listed above.

You will receive a refund for the fees agreed between the CNS and the Association of Opticians and Optometrists Professionals.

CNS also offers contact lens trial periods where you can wear contact lenses and assess their effects on the eye. You can have up to 4 trials within the first 12 months of contact lens delivery. If the front of the eye becomes intolerant within 30 days of the first trial, two more trial sessions can be performed within 2 months of the first trial. After this, if your contact lenses simply do not work, you can only charge for 3 trial sessions.

When will I get new contact lenses?

The contact lens renewal period is the same as for eyeglasses – 3 years, except for changes in vision and the onset of certain medical conditions.
