Only one bid in government wheat purchase call

Ljubljana – Just one bid was submitted as part of the government’s public offering to purchase a total of 40,000 tonnes of wheat. Slovenia wants to increase its domestic stockpiles in the face of war in Ukraine. Details of the tender were not disclosed. Prime Minister Robert Golob said today, “It’s clear that the farmers had no problem selling the wheat, and there’s nothing wrong with that. They just sold to a higher bidder.” This year farmers earned between 370 and 390 euros per tonne of top quality wheat.
