Over 1,000 Ukrainians benefiting from temporary protection in Malta



According to the National Statistics Office (NSO), just over 1,000 people from Ukraine benefit from temporary protection in Malta, 76% of whom are women.

On March 4, the European Union issued a Temporary Protection Directive (2001/55 / ​​EC) in response to the crisis in Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine at the end of February, attacking cities across the country and expelling millions of Ukrainians.

Numbers released by the NSO on Monday show that a total of 191 people benefited from temporary protection in March. This number continued to increase in April as it was 395 in March and 416 in May.

NSO infographics also show age-based data for those who are benefiting from temporary protection, revealing that 4% of arrivals are unaccompanied minors. ..

By age, 29% of the arrivals were 0-13 years old, 6% 14-17 years old, 23% 18-34 years old, 33% 35-64 years old, and 9% 65 years old or older.
