PACE Co-Rapporteur to Monitor Regular Review Visits to Romania – Romanian Journal

Edit Estrela (Portugal, SOC) and Christa Baumane (Latvia, ALDE), co-reporters of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Romania’s respect for its obligation to join the Council of Europe, will conduct a regular review 2022 Visited the country from July 4th to 6th.

The discussion focuses primarily on judicial reform, the fight against corruption, and the human rights situation.

In Bucharest, co-reporters will meet, among other things, the Prime Minister, the Vice-President of the Senate and the Senate, and the Minister of Justice.

In addition, meetings are planned with various parliamentary groups and political parties, the Romanian PACE delegation, representatives of the judiciary, and the ombudsperson.

Regular reviews are assessments of whether the State is fulfilling its obligations to uphold the human rights and democratic standards of the Council of Europe, not under full surveillance procedures or engaged in “post-surveillance dialogue”. Not applicable to all member countries.
