Paphos Hosts Climate Change at the East Mediterranean, Middle East Global Conference

2 days 2NS The International Conference on Climate Change in the East Mediterranean and the Middle East began early Wednesday in Paphos.

According to CNA, it attracts keynote speakers from all over the world.

Scientific discoveries on 13 topics are presented, along with solutions and measures that can address the climate crisis in the region.

The conference will be held within the framework of an initiative carried out by the Republic of Cyprus to address the development of the regional climate crisis.

Nicosia is also coordinating initiatives to develop a joint regional action plan for climate change.

Among the people speaking at the conference are President Nicos Anastasiades, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and Virginijus Sinkevičius, EU Commissioner for Environment, Marine and Fisheries.

Also, Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan and former Prime Minister Laurent Fabius, chairman of the French Constitutional Council.

Other keynote speakers include Ministers of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt.
The conference will be held under the umbrella of the Cyprus Institute, which coordinates the scientific behavior of more than 200 scientists and experts from 25 countries.
