Passenger bus crashes on a snow-covered highway near Moscow, Russia

Five people were killed and 21 were injured in a bus accident in southern Moscow.

According to the Russian Federal Road Traffic Inspection Agency, the accident occurred in the Ryazan region around 5:45 am local time (Greenwich Mean Time 0245) on Sunday.

“Five people were killed and 21 were injured as a result of the accident,” the agency said in Telegram, adding that two of the injured were minors.

He said the injuries were “various in severity”.

The agency said the bus may have hit a pillar at the railroad bridge.

According to the authorities, there were a total of 49 passengers.

Police said they had filed a criminal proceeding for violating traffic rules.
