Pet care companies stop selling fish bowls — they crazy and kill fish!

A major French aquarium vendor decided to stop selling round fish bowls because they would make the fish go crazy and kill them quickly.
AgroBiothers Laboratoire, a leader in the French pet care market, does not sell aquariums with a capacity of less than 15 liters, only rectangular aquariums. Putting fish in a small bowl without filtration or oxygenation is animal cruelty.
“People impulsively buy goldfish for their kids, but if they know what torture it is, they don’t do it. When they spin around in a small bowl, the fish go crazy. It will be killed soon, “AgroBiothers CEO Mathieu Rambo told Reuters.
Goldfish can live up to 30 years and grow up to about 25 cm in large aquariums and outdoor ponds, but often die within weeks or months in small bowls.
Goldfish, along with other fish, are social animals that require ample space and clean water, and having an aquarium requires minimal equipment and expertise, he said.
According to Lambeau, France is Europe’s number one red aquarium fish market, with about 2.3 million fish.
Germany and several other European countries have long banned aquariums, but France does not have a law on this issue.
“It’s a French anachronism and that’s why we decided to move. We can’t educate every customer to explain that keeping fish in a bowl is cruel. We believe it is our responsibility not to give that choice to us, “says Rambo.
AgroBiothers, which has a French market share of about 27% in pet care products, sold about 50,000 aquariums annually for about 20 euros per piece last year.
“There is demand for aquariums, but what we are offering to our children is the possibility of seeing the goldfish slowly die,” he said.
